Since 1972, our masseria has been a benchmark for sustainable strawberry farming in Melendugno.

 

It all began with Dr Italo Potì, who decided to plant the first strawberries fifty years ago. Since then, Masseria Berzario has grown, continuing to uphold an agricultural tradition that respects both nature and people.

 

Today, we cultivate over 5,000 strawberry plants each season, following strict organic farming principles to guarantee our customers fruit with an authentic taste and unmistakable fragrance.

Our agricultural philosophy doesn’t stop at cultivation; it extends to processing and sharing with our guests.

 

Every spring, we invite those staying at Masseria Berzario to join us for the strawberry harvest. We take our visitors into the fields, where they can pick and taste strawberries straight from the plant. It’s a unique experience, allowing guests to enjoy the freshness of freshly picked produce and reconnect with the land.

 

The strawberry season starts in April and runs until early July. During these months, our garden bursts with life and colour, and produce fruit telling the story of our farm. Each strawberry is the result of careful, patient work, where nothing is left to chance.

Our Homemade Organic Jams

At Masseria Berzario, we don’t stop at harvesting fresh strawberries. One of our most popular products is our homemade jam, prepared using strawberries and lemons grown on our organic farm.

 

Sustainability is also at the heart of this process: we don’t use citric acid or artificial preservatives, but follow a natural, genuine recipe passed down through generations.

 

The result is a jam with an authentic, natural flavor that preserves all the freshness and goodness of the freshly picked fruit.
